Hello Everyone,
Next week we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 4th March, we will post some activities that you can take part in at home, but the first thing we are really excited to present to you is our Virtual Book Fair.
We are so happy to have worked with Louise Chadwick, formerly of Button and Bear Bookshop. She now runs Everybody Reads CIC, a community interest company who help to provide books to those who need them most in the community.
Louise has worked hard to put together lists of wonderful books for each year group that you can order and have delivered to school for collection. Every book purchased will help to provide free books to school. Please be sure to scroll down to the bottom of each page and select ‘Load more’ as there are lots of lovely books on each page.
This year, and last, have been particularly challenging for the school and our FOPPS (Friends of Pontesbury Primary School) group to hold any fundraising events for the school. We would normally have had a Summer Fair, a Christmas Fair, non-uniform days and so on. We were planning to hold a sponsored readathon for World Book Day but this would not be possible with collecting sponsor money and will just be one extra thing for families to worry about. So with this in mind, we would like to take the opportunity to ask our wonderful community to donate some lovely books to our classrooms. The virtual book fair contains a section called ‘Donate a book to school’. In this section each teacher has put together a wishlist of a few books they would love for their classroom. When you click on this link you will see the titles for each year group. The books will go directly to your child’s classroom for shared class story time and for their class libraries. Louise has also supplied these books at a discounted rate and we will place a bookplate into each book to acknowledge and thank you for your donation.
