We have a vacancy for a Caretaker at Pontesbury CE Primary School

Duties include

Seasonal ground maintenance

• Clearing leaves
• Clearing snow
• Spreading salt/grit on pathways/car parks and playgrounds
• Review drains and gullies checking for gathering leaves etc (which cause flooding)

A weekly check on school grounds looking for possible Health & Safety issues

Empty playground bins weekly and litter pick if required

Putting bins out weekly during term time

Test fire alarms (weekly)

Test emergency lighting (monthly)

The successful applicant should also be proficient with a drill, a hammer, a saw and possibly even a wrench. With the nature of a busy school/workplace we irregularly have small jobs that can easily be resolved by a competent DIYer without having to call out a tradesman (at a huge cost to the school budget)

This post is for 7 hours a week for 43.21 weeks of the year. These are not set hours and so might suit the right candidate as an extra post or someone looking for work outside of the ‘normal’ working day. By the nature of the job there will be more hours required for ground maintenance in autumn/winter than in the spring/summer.

• Undergo an enhanced DBS check
• Be trustworthy and reliable and used to using their initiative

Starting Pay £10.41 per hour (Grade 6 SCP Point 7)
