Communications moving to Weduc
We are switching all our communications (notices, information, calendar etc) to Weduc as of Easter. The website will continue to show general information and the statutory requirements.
The weekly newsletter will cease but all information relevant to your child will be available in the Newsfeed and in Notices, you will get notifications too.
Should you need help getting on the Weduc app please pop in and we can help you.
The app is about to be updated and rebranded to Reach More Parents by Weduc which looks really good.
It is really important that you keep an eye on the app so you know what is happening.
As we no longer send text messages all message will come through the app (which of course you can also view on your browser) we do strongly recommend putting the app on your home page so you will see when you have a new notification.
School closed 10 March 2023
School will be closed today due to the weather.
Deteriorating conditions
So the day isn’t as lovely as I first thought (and posted about on the Weduc newsfeed earlier).
Mr LH & I are in school having both driven in, we appreciate that the roads are slippy and there is more heavy snow forecast for the rest of the school day. We may therefore need to close the school during the morning. If you would like to keep your child at home today we will authorise any absence due to the weather. If you do bring your child to school this morning please be aware you may need to fetch them at short notice.

A friendly reminder about paying for dinner money
Could I take this opportunity to remind parents that we do not offer credit for school meals except in exceptional circumstances. It appears that it is becoming an increasing habit for many to pay for meals at the end of the week or even later. All meals should be paid in advance or on the day.
Payment can be made at the school office by cash or using the Weduc app using a card. Weduc also has the facility that you can set an Auto top up so as soon as your child’s balance drops below a set amount it will top it up for you from your nominated card. Any monies not used that week will roll on to the next week and with Weduc you can see exactly what your child is ordering each day.

School Opening Time Consultation
Dear Parents/Carers and Colleagues,
The DfE has instructed all maintained schools to deliver a school week of 32.5 hours to begin from September 2023. Therefore, we will need to increase our school day (as other schools will) by 15 minutes per day to meet this requirement.
Currently, we open the school doors at 8:45am, register closes at 9:00am and the school day ends at 3:15pm.
The options we are considering are:
| Option A
(similar to Mary Webb) |
Option B | |
| School doors open | 8:35am | 8:45am |
| Registration closes | 8:45am | 8:55am |
| School day ends | 3:15pm | 3:25pm |
I would appreciate it if you could complete the short survey in the Forms section of the Weduc App/website to indicate your preference to help inform the decision made.
Please note that Wraparound Club and afterschool clubs will continue to run. We will give plenty of notice of this change ready for September 2023 and all times will remain the same until then.
Many thanks,
Tom Lowrie-Herz (Acting Headteacher)
Child Safety Concerns
A reminder to all parents.
Please do not park your car outside school on double yellow lines or the keep clear zig zag lines.
Cars are repeatedly parking opposite school on double yellow lines this is a safety issue as it makes crossing the road for children (and their grown ups) very dangerous and placing lives at risk.
In addition it is most disrespectful to our neighbours whose drives are also being blocked.
Changing from School Money to the Weduc app (getting renamed/updated as ‘Reach More Parents’ during Easter holiday)
We are in the process of changing systems and by the end of this week we will be using Weduc rather than School Money, Weduc offers much more and it is all in one place so your one login will allow you to buy uniform, pay for visits, clubs and dinner money, as well as book Parents’ Evening appointments (to name a few) and in addition you will be able to order your child’s dinner through the app and notify us of your child’s absence or appointment (which should save you phone calls and/or leaving answerphone messages).

We ask that you download the Weduc app and I highly recommend having it on your homepage so you can see when you receive messages from us. All parents/carers can have the app which should hopefully save some confusion for example at the moment Parent 1 may get the message but Parent 2 doesn’t know what is going on and our current system limits us to whom we can send messages.
There will be a few other changes that we are having to implement at the same time.
Wraparound Club bookings must be made one week in advance, this is to ensure we have the correct staffing, in exceptional circumstances and subject to availability, office staff will be able to make late bookings, these will be considered on a case by case basis.
It will come as no surprise to any of you that our costs have increased across the board for food and fuel (as well as staffing) we have made the decision not to increase Wraparound Club charges and are keeping them at £5 for a morning session and £10 for an afternoon session however we have had to remove the discounted rate of £12.50 for both sessions. We still feel this is excellent value for money.
The App features a News Feed and Notices page so we can keep you informed of what is going on in school with key information relating to your child(ren) these notices will be personalised to you so we will only inform the Year 2 class about Colomendy information, so this should mean you won’t have to scroll through information that isn’t relevant to you or your child.
We are confident that the new system will work really well and is an improvement on what we currently offer through School Money.
We will send you your login details as soon as we go live however feel free to download the app now so you are ready to go – thanks for your continued support.
