Shropshire Music Service – Our Ensembles Are Recruiting!

Since relaunching in September 2021, our County School of Music (CSM) has been home to five new instrumental bands and three choirs. We are now looking for new members to increase the size of our groups. These bands and choirs perform regularly at Music Service events and embark on an annual overseas tour.

Students can join the CSM for a flat fee of £45 per term, which allows them to play in any regular ensemble suitable for their standard. Find out more about each band and how to sign up below:

Stompers –

A perfect introduction to ensemble playing, Stompers welcomes all players from beginner up to grade 2 standard. This group has the broadest mix of instruments and plays a range of exciting music. Rehearsals are every other Saturday from 09:30-12:00 at Crowmoor Primary School, SY2 5JJ.

String Orchestras (SYTS & SYS) –

Concert Bands (SYTCB & SYCB) –

Shropshire Star *Cash for Schools* – please help us!

We have entered the Shropshire Star Competition *Cash for Schools*

All schools who have entered will be showcased in a special Cash for Schools supplement that will appear in the Shropshire Star on Thursday 3rd March, which will signal the start of the token collect campaign (If you buy the Shropshire Star please keep a look out for the tokens.)

All parents, children and teachers have to do is collect as many tokens as possible that will appear every day in the Shropshire Star from Thursday 3rd March to Saturday 2nd April and please bring them to the school office.

Why don’t you ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to help us collect as many tokens as possible too?

The best bit is that every school has an equal chance of winning. The prizes will be awarded based on the schools that have collected the most tokens per pupil from Reception to Year 6 – so smaller schools have the same chance as larger ones.

The first placed school with the most tokens collected per pupil will scoop a whopping £5,000, followed by £3,000 for second, £2,000 for third and then two £1,000 awards, which will be presented to the fourth and fifth place schools.

Please keep your eyes peeled for the tokens in the Shropshire Star and thank you in advance!
