Room 2 are having an additional PE lesson tomorrow! I know the children are dressing up as pirates but I have asked that all children come with their PE kit in a spare bag with their trainers so they can get changed before lunch.
I apologise for the convenience.
Regards,
Mrs Davies and Mrs Hilditch.
Just a quick reminder, that on Friday our class has been allowed the opportunity to have a free tennis lesson from Shrewsbury Tennis Club. Because of this, could all of Room 2 please come to school in their PE kits please.
Thank you,
Mrs Davies
I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that Colomendy cannot go ahead this school year as planned, obviously this is disappointing for the children as it has been cancelled twice. The good news is I have found an alternative and I am delighted to say on Thursday 16 September 2021 we will be bringing Camp PPS to school.
Camp PPS will be a 24 hour experience (hopefully at least 8 hours will be spent sleeping)
From 3pm on Thursday 16th September to 3pm on Friday 17 September the children will:
Put up (and take down) their tents, unpack their sleeping bags, pyjamas and teds
Fun and team building games
Make a hot chocolate with muddy water – by making a water purifier first!
The obligatory evening camp fire with toasted marshmallows, songs and interactive stories.
A variety of bushcraft activities to include:
Bugs buns and blazes
Firelighting: using a sparking fire-steel, everyone will set cotton-wool ablaze!
Bush-tucker challenge!
Learning to make pancakes over the open fire (bug seasoning optional!)
Crash and carry
Your plane has crashed in the jungle!
Gather supplies!
Learn to help an injured teammate!
Build a shelter!
Survive!
They will be fed dinner, breakfast and lunch during the 24 hours and plenty of drinks and snacks, and of course the optional bugs!
We have opted to include a Night Watch so everyone – parents, staff and children can sleep soundly knowing the children are safe.
The company will be providing qualified instructors and of course PPS staff led by Mr Langford will be joining in the fun too.
The cost of this fabulous experience will be £60. So the extra good news is, if you have already paid for Colomendy then we owe you money!
If you have any questions please contact the school office. Further details and kit list to follow.
I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and have made the most of the beautiful weather.
This half term we will still have PE on Wednesday, this time it will be with Mr Boffey.
We will not have Forest School this half term, but we will be doing some gardening and trying to make a nice little outdoor area for our class. The children will not need a change of clothes for this activity.
If you have a plant pot or two spare at home (just plastic ones are fine) please can you send them in so that children can each plant a sunflower seed. They will then be able to bring their plant home at the end of term – so long as they’re not too tall by then!
If anyone has any other planters or pots that you no longer need, I’m sure we would make very good use of them and they would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and I’m looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
Mrs Hilditch
Introducing the newest member of Room 2 Tony, or as we call him Bony Tony! He has been visiting Room 2 for the last couple of weeks to help us with our Science. As you can see, he was very kind and allowed us to cover him in post it notes from his Cranium down to his Metatarsals. He won’t be around for very much longer but we just thought we would show everyone at home. Because of him, we might have a few more Doctors and Nurses in the making!
Here are the spellings for this week. Children are to bring in their sheets on Frrday please.
Next Friday, 19th March, is Red Nose Day. We would love to celebrate this day, have fun and raise a bit of money for a good cause at the same time. The theme for this year is ‘Superpowers!’ and we thought this was a great opportunity to get involved and celebrate a wide range of superheroes.
We have heard the phrase ‘Not all superheroes wear capes’ a lot over the past year and people’s superpowers have been demonstrated in many ways. From our fantastic NHS doctors, nurses and paramedics, our amazing scientists who have created the vaccines, the charity work and campaigning of people like Marcus Rashford, supermarket workers working all the way through the pandemic, you – our amazing parents and carers who have worked incredibly hard to provide stability, care and education, while working from home and spinning 27 plates, to our amazing children who have dealt with a year of incredible change and uncertainty and have returned to school with the most amazing attitude, smiling faces and resilience – they have truly shown what little superheroes they are!
So with all of this in mind, we would like to ask the children to come to school next Friday the 19th March dressed as their superhero of choice – so they could come as Superman, Wonder Woman, a scientist, a doctor or get creative and invent their own superhero. Basically anything goes so long as it is warm, comfortable and suitable to wear all day. We also totally understand that it isn’t very easy to go shopping at the minute and we don’t want people to go out buying costumes – so please just do whatever you can – home made is great!!! There may be some prizes for the best home made efforts!
There will be a section in the shop on School Money where you can make a donation to Comic Relief.
We are looking forward to a fun filled day, having missed out on celebrating World Book Day we are hoping the children will really get involved and have fun.
Thank you so much to everyone who has so kindly donated a book to the school. I know the teachers of each class will love sharing these books with the children and adding them to their class libraries.
Please note that this weekend is your last opportunity to order any books and they will hopefully be delivered to school next week.
Thank you all once again for your support as every book you purchase personally also helps the school to receive free books.
I would also like to express our thanks to Louise at Everybody Reads CIC for her time and effort in organising the book fair. You can also visit their site to order books at https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/Everybodyreads
There are lots of lovely books on here organised into different lists for inspiration – you may also see some lists on there with wonderful books recommended by the lovely Mrs Rowe.
