Top Hat Performing Arts Club – 4 more bookings needed!

We need a minimum of 8 bookings for Top Hat Performing Arts School to come in and run their fab after-school club for us on Fridays next half term.

It is open to all pupils in years 4-6 and costs £15 for the half term (5 sessions from Friday 3rd March to Friday 31st March inclusive).

Children are led in drama, dance and singing activities over the weeks, sometimes with a performance for parents at some point before the end of the school year.

Please book by Wednesday 15th February to ensure the club can run. It cannot go ahead with less than 8 pupils signed up – we still need at least 4 more children to book!

Thank you!

Events & Clubs Update from Mr Rogers

Hi all,

In terms of sports events/competitions, we have teamed up with the local primary schools around the Rea Valley area as well as entering School Games events. As we start to approach the spring, more of these events will take place. Our aim is to provide the opportunity for everyone to take part and represent the school, our two squads who have been to events so far have done a fantastic job. As a bonus for Year 6’s, I am working on organising some friendly football fixtures for them given it’s their last year with us. This isn’t guaranteed that they will happen, but I will do my best!

Mrs Butler has posted information regarding clubs for Spring 2, booking will be available soon. As you will have seen, there are two changes to the current timetable: Cross country returns to replace Basketball, and Dance replaces Gymnastics. We have been doing dance as part of PE this term and the children have been great and really enjoyed it. Thank you to those who responded with interest a few weeks back about the dance club. It is open to all in KS2 and is hopefully going to be a lot of fun! If your child has any interest/questions about the new dance club, you can contact me via my email or if you see me out and about at the end of the day.

charlie.rogers1@ppce.co.uk

Thanks

Mr Rogers

Top Hat Performing Arts Club

We are hoping to run the Top Hat Performing Arts club for years 4-6 next half term (Spring 2) but it can only run if we have a minimum of 8 pupils attending.

The club will run on Friday afternoons 3.15pm-4.15pm and will cost £15 for the half term.  It is a mixture of drama, dance and singing.
If you would like your child/ren to attend, please contact the office by Friday 3rd February. If there is enough interest, we will create a booking to take payments.
Thank you!

A friendly reminder about paying for dinner money

Could I take this opportunity to remind parents that we do not offer credit for school meals except in exceptional circumstances. It appears that it is becoming an increasing habit for many to pay for meals at the end of the week or even later. All meals should be paid in advance or on the day.

Payment can be made at the school office by cash or using the Weduc app using a card. Weduc also has the facility that you can set an Auto top up so as soon as your child’s balance drops below a set amount it will top it up for you from your nominated card. Any monies not used that week will roll on to the next week and with Weduc you can see exactly what your child is ordering each day.

I would like to reassure parents/carers that Pontesbury CE Primary School will operate as normal during the scheduled teacher strike action. If there is any change, I will inform parents/carers as soon as possible.

Free smoke alarms for your home

Andy Jamieson, one of our parents who works for the Fire Service, has recently done some fire safety training for our pupils in school.  He has also offered to provide free smoke alarms through the fire service for any parents who would like one or two for your home, if you do not already have them.  If you are interested, please contact the school office to register your interest and the number you would like (usually one alarm per floor of your house).

A smoke alarm is your early warning system, which will detect and alert you to a fire in your home. A smoke alarm will give you and your family valuable time to escape. Smoke alarms should be tested weekly.  Smoke alarms should be fitted:

  • To the ceiling,
  • One per level of your home, and
  • In circulation areas (hallways and landings) that form part of your escape route).
  • According to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Smoke Alarms should be fitted at least 30 cm (12″) away from any wall or light fitting and close to the centre of the room. Care should be taken to fit them where you can hear them particularly when you are asleep.
