No parking

We have just had another understandable complaint from a local resident about being regularly blocked in on their driveway by parents dropping off or collecting their children. This is unacceptable – as per section 243 the Highway Code, you must not park:

  • Near a school entrance
  • Anywhere you would prevent access for emergency services
  • At or near a bus or tram stop or taxi rank
  • Opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
  • Near the brow or a hill or hump bridge
  • Opposite (if this would cause an obstruction) another parked vehicle
  • Where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles
  • In front of an entrance to a property
  • On a bend
  • Where you would obstruct cyclists’ use of cycle facilities except when forced to do so by stationary traffic

So, just another friendly reminder to parents who transport their child/ren to and from school by car to please:

  • only park in official parking areas along the roads,
  • be considerate to other parked cars (always ensuring you don’t block in anyone else’s parked car); and
  • please don’t obstruct access to driveways.

Thank you.

Your child’s school packed lunch will consist of:

  • a sandwich/roll of children’s choice (ham, tuna, cheese, egg or marmite);
  • 500ml bottle of water;
  • piece of fruit;
  • cake/cookie;
  • packet of crisps.

World Book Day – Thursday 2nd March

This year’s World Book Day takes place on Thursday 2nd March and this year, we would like pupils to dress up as a character inspired by a hero from the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ book series. This also ties in with our continent week where classes will focus on a ‘Little Hero’ linked to their continent. Please note: dress up does not need to be characters from pupils’ continent or the ‘Little Hero’ they are studying.

We encourage homemade costumes as much as possible – if you need any further ideas, please contact your child’s class teacher.
